Adelaide Unicare is a company which is 100% owned and controlled by the University of Adelaide. They have strong ties with the University of Adelaide’s Faculty of Health Sciences which offers ongoing networking, training and developmental opportunities. Adelaide Unicare owns and runs 5 General Practices in South Australia. Currently they have a vacancy in their Minlaton Medical Centre for a General Practitioner. Minlaton is approximately 200 kilometres from Adelaide located on the Yorke Peninsula.

Essential requirements of the role are that applicants are International Medical Graduates (“IMG”) they will need to have at least General or Provisional Registration with AHPRA. But for the right person Unicare will be able to facilitate exemptions from both s19AA (for Permanent Residents who do not yet have their FRACGP) and from s19AB (for doctors who have not yet completed their 10-year moratorium) of the Health Insurance Act.

The Minlaton Practice also includes a co-located 24/7 A&E Centre. The presence of the A&E Centre adds diversity and interest to the type of patients and conditions that doctors will see. The A&E Centre is managed by the doctors & nursing staff from the Minlaton Medical Centre. Doctors are required to participate in the After Hours on Call roster.

As an independent contractor, Adelaide Unicare provides all services, facilities, infrastructure, nursing and administrative staff. The amount charged by Adelaide Unicare for the provision of such services is modest with doctors retaining up to 70% of their gross billings. These arrangements mean you can focus on what matters most to you – your patients. Full time doctors can expect to earn a market related salary. In addition, the successful candidate will be paid a generous on call allowance and be provided with housing assistance. The selected doctor will also be eligible to benefit from Medicare’s General Practice Rural Incentive Program.

Applicants will need to have wide experience of working in a general practice – preferably in a country setting. In addition, they will need to be competent in Australian emergency medicine.
